Joseph R. Scuderi, President
Joe has been with the company since its inception in 1982. As one of the founders, he has guided the company’s growth from a single office building located in upstate New York to a multi-property, retail, hospitality, office and industrial portfolio across the U.S. and Canada. Also, during his tenure, Widewaters formed its own management company, The Widewaters Group, Inc.; construction company, Widewaters Construction, Inc.; and hotel management company, Widewaters Hotels, LLC. Today, he is responsible for new retail development, strategic long-range planning, right-to-build, site acquisition, feasibility studies and acquisition analysis. Joe is a graduate from the Syracuse University Whitman School of Management.
William S. Holstein, Senior Vice President
Bill has been with the company since 1985. In his time at Widewaters he has played a significant role in the growth of the organization and its portfolio. His responsibilities include oversight of hotel development, acquisitions, investment strategies and capital-raising efforts. He also directed the development and leasing of the Widewaters Class A office portfolio. Bill is a graduate of the University of Nevada, Las Vegas and holds a Bachelor of Science in Hotel Administration.
Robert M. Spoto, Vice President Of Operations, Widewaters Hotels
Bob is responsible for overseeing all Widewaters Hotels managed properties, including sales and marketing, revenue management and overall hotel operations. He brings with him over 30 years of experience in the hospitality industry with 14 years as a Vice President for Remington Hotels, as well as experience as a General Manager for various hotels. He has led teams in the opening of numerous hotels, in addition to repositioning and reflagging assets to better perform in their market.
Stephen Ranieri, Vice President Of Design & Construction, Widewaters Group, Inc.
Steve has been a part of the Widewaters team since 1990. In 1993 he assumed the position of Vice President of Design and Construction, where he remains today. Throughout his time at Widewaters, he has been responsible for all aspects of development, design and construction. He works closely with the legal, finance, leasing and property management divisions and has constructed over 15 million square feet of retail and office space, hotels and institutional facilities. He is currently licensed in five states and is registered to do work in an additional 40 states. Steve has been a user of Primavera Contract Manager for over 15 years and has implemented REVIT design into his department since 2004. His prior experience includes real estate development and construction in the Boston and Providence markets. He is a member of the AGC and the CMAA. Mr. Ranieri is a graduate of Syracuse University.
Charles E. Maloney, Jr., Chief Financial Officer
Chip has been a member of the Widewaters team since 1983. In his time here, he has designed and implemented account systems and controls for 11 affiliated corporations and over 150 partnerships/corporations. He is responsible for all accounting functions, including internal auditing, financial statement preparation, income tax planning, cash management and cash flow forecasting. Chip is a graduate of the Rochester Institute of Technology and holds a Bachelor of Science in Accounting.
Edward G. Shagen, Vice President of Hotel Development – Western Region
Ed oversees development activities in the Western United States and Canada. His responsibilities include project feasibility, site acquisition, right-to-build, construction planning and overall management of active projects. He has over 20 years of experience in development planning and management, corporate real estate and construction management, and was previously a Project Manager for Widewaters from 1996-2000. In the interim Ed was the Executive Director of Aliant Development Services and the Regional Manager of Corporate Real Estate for Whittman-Hart Inc. He is a graduate of Virginia Tech and holds a Bachelor of Science in Building Construction.
Ronald Loman, Vice President of Sales & Marketing
As Vice President of Sales & Marketing, Ron champions the revenue generation for the company by determining growth strategies and plans for the entire portfolio, setting priorities and targets for both new and existing business. His responsibilities and authority extend to all sales, marketing, and revenue generation functions, including direct sales, digital advertising, sales training, recruitment and performance tracking. Ron joins Widewaters Hotels from Real Hospitality Group and previous to that, Ron enjoyed a 12-year career with Crestline Hotels & Resorts. In addition to his long career with Crestline, he spent 14 years with Tollman-Hundley Hotels, where he held various senior leadership positions in both Operations and Sales & Marketing. He has held regional oversight over such brands as Marriott, Renaissance, Hyatt, Hilton, Courtyard and boutique lifestyle hotels in primary markets internationally. Ron is an active member of the Hospitality Sales and Marketing Association International Hotel Management Company Executive Roundtable.
Jennifer Olesen, Vice President Of Revenue Management
Jennifer oversees the management of all revenue for all Widewaters Hotels. She has over 18 years of experience in the hospitality industry, including front office and revenue management positions with hotels of various sizes and brands. She spent 10 years with Remington Hotels as a Brand Revenue Manager, overseeing properties in the Hilton portfolio. Jennifer is a graduate of Virginia Tech University and holds a degree in Hospitality and Tourism Management.
Scott Barlow, Regional Vice President of Hotel Operations
Scott has a solid career with decades of experience in the strategic and hands-on aspects of the hospitality business, including finance, portfolio management, operations, team building and data-based performance analysis. Scott is a forward-thinking professional with a proven ability to drive profitability, revenue, and market share, while enhancing the guest experience. He is passionate and persistent in advancing the vision and goals of organizations, boosting b rand equity, and achieving sustainable financial results. Scott’s experience includes multiple executive, corporate and operational level positions. He spent 18 years with Waterford Hotel Group in several positions including: CFO, Director of Development, Director of Internal Audits/Risk Management, Asset Manager, Area GM, GM, Regional Controller, Property Controller, as well as overseeing F&B and purchasing. He has worked with several brands including Hilton, Marriott, Starwood, IHG, Choice, Wyndham and several others. Scott is a graduate of Eastern Connecticut State University.
Alfrado Gardner, Vice President of Finance
Alfrado J. Gardner (Al) joined Widewaters Hotels in March 2015 as the Vice President of Finance. Al has over 30 years of financial experience as a property controller and corporate controller. His executive leadership experience includes owning an accounting company as well as overseeing all aspects of accounting for luxury resorts, multi-use units, full-service and limited service hotels. Al’s responsibilities include written policies and procedures, administration of the accounting department, financial operating reports, annual budgets, property assessment annual reporting, continual improvement of financial systems, reporting compliances and the preparation of financial reports for owners and investors. Al has an AA Degree from Miami Dade College, BSBA degrees from Florida State University & Shaw University, and MBA from Strayer University.
Daniel Ambron, Vice President of Food & Beverage
Dan is responsible for the development and execution of the overall Food & Beverage vision for Widewaters Hotels. He brings over 15 years of experience from upscale restaurants and hotels where he has led teams from both the culinary department as well as the front of house. Prior to his current position, he was with Woodcliff Hotel and Spa for 2 years as the Food & Beverage Director, and assisted in all of the company’s other F&B needs for all brands. Dan is a Certified Food and Beverage Executive with the AHLA as well as a Certified Sommelier with the Court of Master Sommeliers.
Tammy Bramer, Director Of Human Resources, PHR, SHRM-CP
Tammy is responsible for overseeing the Human Resource Management for Widewaters Hotels. She has 15 years of experience in Human Resources and previously worked in the cruise and health care industries. She also worked as an HR Service Representative for a PEO for several years, representing over 100 companies across various industries, including hospitality. Tammy has a degree in Travel & Tourism from Bryant & Stratton and is also PHR-certified.
Ronald Blair, Director Of Facilities Management
Ron oversees all Facilities Management for all Widewaters Hotels managed properties, including Capital Budget Development. He brings over 34 years of experience in facilities maintenance management. Ron spent 13 years with the MGM/Mirage Hotel and Resort as the Director of Engineering for the MGM Hotel and Casino in Las Vegas. He also previously directed facilities management for several large U.S.-based REITs. In his time with Widewaters, he has implemented and managed strategies that have netted material savings in energy conservation and sustainability.
Joanell U. DeLand, Director Of Communications
Joanell’s responsibilities include implementing and overseeing all communication programs, brand standards compliance, managing all hotel agreements and contracts, and management of new hotel franchises and openings. She brings to the table over 20 years of experience in management, technology and operations, and previously worked for the cruising and technology industries. She also is an inventor of a patented system of methods used for comparing multiple sets of information. Joanell is a graduate of SUNY Cortland.
Tonda Sadler, Director Of Purchasing
Tonda oversees the purchasing and procurement of all FF&E and OS&E for all Widewaters Hotels managed properties, ranging from new construction to renovation and CapEx items. She also establishes and maintains volume discounts with our vendors and suppliers for all hotels. She has over 14 years of experience in the hospitality industry. She previously was Director of Operations for Intrinsic Hospitality and Assistant Director of Procurement for Remington Hotels, and worked for six years at Purchasing Management International. She is a member of NEWH Dallas Chapter and holds a bachelor’s degree from Mississippi University for Women.
